Biography

I try to make art in a linguistic way. To construct concrete sentences, poems or stories from a tactile vocabulary made out of personal elements, including objects, processes and histories . These references include my own body, studio furniture and tools, papers and paperwork, my own historical art materials like lego and clay, and my autobiographical/ historical art-making processes, such as polystyrene carving, mould making, fabrication and  drawing. I aim to locate each object that I work on within the stream of those other objects and processes. that travel within the same current. Sculpture means the activity of working with scale, material and reproduction, to conjure up a dimension where these disparate idioms coexist within a dictionary like framework. My desire is to transform the object into a ceremonial avatar of its former self, and so removed from mundane utility, freeing its mythic and poetic potential.
