About the prize

Thirsk Hall Sculpture Garden was opened in May 2021 by Willoughby Gerrish Ltd. The Sculpture Garden is situated within 20 acres of garden and parkland belonging to Thirsk Hall, a historic grade II* listed Town House located in North Yorkshire. The first exhibition held within the Sculpture Garden was to celebrate Willoughby Gerrish’s representation of the Michael Lyons estate. The exhibition saw ten monumental sculptures installed in the Sculpture Garden alongside additional artwork by, Geoffrey Clarke, Richard Hudson, Gerald Laing, Austin Wright, and Emily Young.

In addition to the outdoor sculptures there are also two indoor gallery spaces within the garden, The Orangery and Gallery One which opened in 2022. Exhibitions which have been held in Gallery One include, Jeff Lowe: Sculpture Near Distance, David Hockney Early Etchings and Drawings, and Gordon House paintings.
